Wolf Pack Tactics

5/04/2010

U-Boats often reported sighting Allied ships and then waited for FW-200 Condor aircraft to make attacks on the convoy, or for other U-Boats to join up as a Wolf Pack.

With several submarines attacking a convoy at one time, it made it harder for the escort ships to fight all of them off and defend the convoy.

A single small ship like this one would almost certainly be attacked at night with the deck gun to conserve a torpedo.

A small ship like this would go under very fast if hit by even a single torpedo.

The US Army actually operated many small ships, not unlike the one in this blog.
