They shelter behind a Marx building.

Forces of Valor light pole and ruins.

The troops work well together.

 

 

Together they make a nice little combat scene.

The Pegasus panzerfaust man is using the correct firing procedure, but many did fire them like the Caesar figure shown here.

HaT & Caesar Tank Riders

Here are the Caesar figures in gray and HaT in green.

Detail is a bit better on the Caesar, but only four guys actually riding the tank.

Caesar does give you guys on the ground, and that's always good.

Germans rode on tanks a lot because they were short on trucks.

They were $11.95 at my local hobby shop. 

 

 

These are the HaT set, they are 1/72nd scale I think they fit just fine on a Roco Tiger I.

 

Caesar has just introduced a lot of new figures, mostly WWII German in multi part sets. 

Bambi

At Christmas time you can sometimes find sleds and animals that work for wargames.  This year I got two packs of reindeer.  This was one set.

This is set two, I got them at Hobby Lobby, it was all they had.

They are not the best, but they are plastic, and durable.

Some are on little vegetation bases because they are leaping.

This one with head down is a nice pose.

This Bambi does not have to fear hunters as much as some others...

French and French

Pegasus WWI French with Caesar Miniatures WWI French. You can see the sizes are very good together.

Most of the WWI French can be used as WWII French as WWI kit and weapons were still in use in WWII. The Pegasus WWII French are, of course, the same size as these. It has taken Pegasus years to bring these to market. At one point the figures were almost ready to be sent to the mold maker when they discovered a huge error in the web gear and uniform. So they changed the masters and that delayed production at least a year.

Since most large figure companies don't have full time employees, but rather contract the master sculpting, mold making and actual production they are at the mercy of those contractors. Sometimes they work very closely together and sometimes they have very little contact with each other. These figures are great and they should be in stores by the end of the year.

Caesar Miniatures WWII US Army set 2

Caesar Miniatures 1/72nd scale soft plastic figures US Army set 2. Smoking soldier and 60 mm mortar. One of the very few 60 mm mortars in this scale.

Rifle grenade soldier, radio operator and 75 mm recoilless rifle. Used late war Europe and Pacific.

The whole group together. Fits perfectly with their set 1. Don't know if there is a set three! We could still use more radios, officers, medics, engineers and such for WWII US Army.

Romanian Embassy

As part of my Battle of Berlin project I am building various embassy staff. This is the staff for Romania. The Romanians switched sides to the Russians as the Communists were overrunning the country. There were some Romanians who stayed loyal to the Germans, mostly Romanian Iron Guard members.

I took some Vlad Tepes figures from Lucky Toys and cut off their headwear to give traditional headgear to the more modern figures.

Some of these are the Caesar Miniatures Partisans in Europe set.

These are Prieser and Dapol figures that I have modified with traditional headwear.

The team includes a few women as secretaries and office staff. It is fun to resort figure sets and with a few head swaps and changes to the bases makes the figures part of a more cohesive set.

Caesar Germans

Caesar have done so many WWII German sets I have actually lost count on the number. I will say this may be the best one. While I am a late war guy and these are early war, I am very impressed.


These are the different poses found in this set. There are only 37 figures in the set, but they are all good.

As is typical for Caesar, there is no sprue, just a little nub on the base. I have removed the nub, but not cleaned up the base. The set has two different types of submachine gunner. They usual MP38 is joined by the more unique MP28. The older machine gun was used all during the war, but naturally more common at the beginning.

This figure standing at attention is highly detailed. It is hard to believe how much detail Caesar can get on these one inch tall soldiers.

More Caesar WWII French

The Caesar WWII French set is in stores now. It is a great set. I plan on getting enough for at least a company, probably a four set minimum.
