The natives saw a man in a canoe, drifting downstream.
Obviously in trouble!
They tried to walk out onto the sand bar to get him.
But the quicksand was too dangerous, and he man floated past.
Several of the natives were in danger of sinking.
Only by the grace of God could they form a human chain and pull each other out.
In the meantime the unfortunante man drifts farther downstream!
