Pegasus Hobbies 1/72nd scale WWII Russian Infantry.

Each figure has a base color, boots, weapon metal, weapon wood, uniform, skin  color and an overall wash.

Some have other details painted too.

I did not notice any gaps in the painting, so the quality control is pretty good.

Pegasus Painted Figures

Pegasus Hobbies is now offering some of their WWII sets in a pre-painted format.  Here are their 1/72nd scale Russian Infantry.

This is the German Fallschirmjagers set.  They are wearing camouflage uniforms and a bit more expensive than the other two sets.

This is the other Russian Infantry set.  These figures are painted pretty well, and the colors are very good in my opinion.  So far only available direct from Pegasus.

Brick Roadway

As we approach Christmas time, it's time to go to Michael's to buy Christmas buildings and accessories.

This year one of the few items I liked was this mat.

Three feet long and a foot and a half wide, it's a big vinyl sheet.

Marx 60mm US Army troops on the brick pavement.

The bricks work very well for this scale.

It makes a great roadway or village square.

The sheet could be cut up to make narrow roads or custom cut to fit specific buildings or spaces.

The Wargaming Palace

Only one photo today, but it is a rare look at the wargame room. Starting at the upper left corner of this picture you can see some 12" figures from The Outer Limits; Soldiers and Scientist from Keeper of the Purple Twilight and the Ebonite prison guard from Nightmare.  There is also a Galactus figure, in about 1/72nd scale.

They are standing on my VHS / DVD collection of movies and TV shows.  These are special shelves designed for video storage, they are not very deep.  If you look at the ceiling you can see the metal grid, it's wire used to reinforce concrete floors.  The aircraft are hanging from this wire.  I use TV antennas that are adjustable in height so that the planes can fly at different altitudes.

The boxes with the blue lids are my WWII German Luftwaffe, mostly.  The troops are my Berlin embassies, my Azid Hind Legion, and some WWII German Muslim and Orthodox Cossacks.  The red and while stick near the back of the photo is a wargame measuring stick.  It is in five inch increments for my wargame rules and we use it for long range shots.  It is marked like an artillery aiming stake.

The large building is the Reichstag, not yet finished, but pretty close.  In the far distance in grey you can see the top of the Zoo Tower, nearly done.  All these projects get finished, eventually.

Storage

Over the last seven years I have been working on a major upgrade to my vehicle storage system.

All of the cardboard boxes are being replaced with underbed plastic storage boxes for vehicles and taller boxes for other items.

This is a temporary storage space while I sort items into boxes and take some inventory.  These are Sterilite boxes that I typically get at Target stores.

Soviet Tanks

My collection is primarily late war.

T-34/76 tanks were the first type of Soviet tank in Berlin, according to the plinth at the Soviet cemetery in Berlin.

Soviet buses were used as medical vans, troop carriers, and HQ vehicles.

I cast up a few tank wheels to add a bit of detail to the ARVs.  The hatches are from T-44's and other vehicles.

I am working towards a full Soviet Mechanized Division.

I also use tanks by MIR, they are in better condition than the Roco but are not yet painted.

These three are mounting loud speakers as part of my NKVD propaganda unit.

There are 95 tanks in this box and a similar number in the other box.  There are 183 T-34/76 in a Mechanized Division.

WWII Soviet

Zvezda 1/72nd scale 122mm howitzers.

All assembled, but not yet painted.  I need a few more, and will paint them together.

Roco 1/87th scale T-34/76 tanks.  

The need a little clean up, touch up, and repair, but are basically done.

I try not to ignore the logistical elements in my collection, a Soviet fuel tanker truck.

The tanks without turrets are armored recovery vehicles, converted from the Roco.

85mm Gun

I am building a Zvezda 85mm anti-aircraft gun.

It's 1/72nd scale, glue-able plastic.

It's got a lot of parts but is easy to build.

It's a good model and fits together well.

Here are several of the crews and some other Zvezda crews.

Instructions are clear and I followed them exactly.
